Climate: Laos can be visited throughout the year. Laos has a dry and wet monsoon climate 
with three basic seasons:
- The dry or cool season begins at the end of October and lasts until the end of February.
- The hot seasons lasts from March to June.
- The rainy season starts in June and end in October.
The maximum temperatures are in March and open them (28 - 37 degrees). The minims take place in December and February (15 - 25 degrees).
Language: LAO is the official language. English and French are also widely spoken.
Currency: The official currency is KIP but in the big cities are normally use American dollars (10.100 KIP = 01 USD). Credit Cards are accepted only in big Hotels. The local currency is the KIP. The official change is about 10.100 kip for 1 usd. Foreign currencies can be exchanged into KIP at banks or foreign exchange agencies.

Time zone: The time zone difference is 6 hours, 5 hours during the summer legal hour. 
Area code: Telephone country code is +856, followed by the city code (i.e.: Vietiane is 21, Luang Pha Bang is 71) and the subscriber’s number. To call abroad, dial 00 (+) and the country code, followed by the city code (with 0) and the subscriber’s number.
Airport tax: Domestic flights tax is 5.000 KIP (about half USD). A 10 USD tax is applied to leave the country. This tax may be changed without previous notice.

Health: It is not necessary to get any vaccination if you are visiting only big cities or main tourist locations. Anti-malaria prophylaxis could be useful if you decide to visit swampy territory at the border with Laos. To prevent intestine problems avoid eating ice and raw vegetables or fruits sold on the streets. At the hotels you are free to consume any food including ice.
